Landscape Analysis

DFID has published its conceptual framework to guide its future approach to agriculture and the agrifood sector.

The Department for International Development has published its conceptual framework to guide its future approach to agriculture and the agrifood sector.

Agriculture is a vitally important sector in many low income countries, both for their economies and food security.

It was recognised as a major target for the new Sustainable Development Goals, which named Goal number two as ending hunger by 2030.

The last DFID paper was in 2005, and so this report provides a drastic update on the global context and DFID’s approach.

The report covers the key opportunities, challenges and risks in the sector, as well as DFID’s long-term perspective and future approach to promoting agricultural transformation.

This publication presents the latest evidence and a conceptual framework to design agriculture policies and programmes, differentiated by context and responding to new trends, to make a meaningful contribution to the Global Goals.

See the full report on the DFID website.
